MISSION

What is MOYΣEION?
‍It is a place where archaeology is not learned but experienced, where we do not try to understand our Past—we simply live it.
It is not a place where we are given objects, gestures, sounds, smells or flavors belonging to remote eras, as they were in their time, but rather a place where those objects, gestures, smells and flavors become full of all the perceptions that are possible through our senses...
...a border area, liminoid, across which wonderful islands appear: on them the men of Serra D’Alto, the Enotrians, the Greeks of the Colonies and their Myths are moving now as they once did...
..the Past as it was, plus all the distance that separates it from the Present...
...a place where our memory, at the most unconscious level, tries to reclaim the treasures hidden by our ancestors, overcoming the distance from the Present without canceling it, because it is precisely in this space-time distance that the symbols of remote eras, as they cross us, become part of us, an active source of emotions and meanings… That these symbols move over a distance of millennia, therefore, does not impede their comprehension: it guarantees it.
